It's crucial for me to share my terrible online shopping experience as a cautionary tale for others. I ordered a pair of glasses for my 12-year-old son after he tried them virtually, but when they arrived, he simply couldn't see with them. A visit to the doctor confirmed the issue: the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The GlassesUSA site didn't even prompt me for the PD number, simply assuming a value, which turned out to be wrong for my child. This made the glasses unusable. I felt compelled to reach out to customer service to fix this glaring mistake and get usable glasses for my son.
Customer: I'm incredibly frustrated. My son's new glasses arrived and the PD is completely wrong. He can't see with them, and your site never asked for his PD! CS Rep: I understand your frustration, and I sincerely apologize for the issue with your son's glasses. We typically use a standard PD if one isn't provided, but I see how this caused a problem. How can I assist you in resolving this today? Customer: Resolve it? I can't even get a human on the phone, and emails take days! This whole process has been a nightmare. We need corrected lenses; these are useless. CS Rep: I truly apologize for the difficulty reaching us and the slow email responses you've experienced. I can certainly help arrange corrected lenses for your son. To do this, we'll need you to send the original pair back first, and then we can process the replacement. Customer: So my son will be without glasses while we wait for a replacement? That's not ideal. This is a basic function that should have been correct from the start.
